We checked into our hostel at 3pm the first day and the rest of the day was spent wandering around waiting to go asleep. Not that we didn’t see anything, but we were tired after the flight.

The next day (also known as yesterday) we walked around town to get a feel for where everything is. We even went swimming in the ocean which should prove that the weather was showing it’s best side.
In the evening we went out in town with a lot of other people from the hostel.

Today we woke up to a very rainy weather but that didn’t stop us. We went to see chinatown and got lunch at a very chinease resturant where we were just about the only white people.

More info when I’m not writing from my iPod.

And what better thing to do there than participate in a small bike ride.

So I signed up for the Ride to Cure Diabetes along with my friend Jim Whimpey.
So please help me get there by donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Australia (JDRF) in my name.

It’s a 160 km ride through the Barossa Valley down by Adelaide. And it’s kinda hilly. The elevation difference in around 400 meter, or over twice the height of the highest point in Denmark.
I will be doing all my training for the ride in Canada after I bought a new bike down there. So hopefully I can find some hills to train in over there.

Donate here

In advance, thanks!

Leaving for Canada

In less than 40 hours I’m boarding a plane heading for London Heathrow (LHR) and from there I journey towards Vancouver (YVR).

I will be travelling together with Filip, my longtime friend. We will be going around Vancouver and BC for the first two weeks and a bit. After Filip heads home to study back home in Copenhagen I will stay behind to study at the University of British Columbia (UBC).

I will by studying at UBC from the begining of September till the end of December. After the semester is over my plan is to head towards the warmth of Australia and my friend Jim Whimpey..

If you want to follow in on my travelling / studying / life in general, these will be the places to look:

Pictures hosted at Flickr.com

Texts posted here on Tumblr

Tweets over at Twitter — where else

Oh, and am I the only one who thinks she kind of looks like Julia Stiles?

But after reading through all the comments on
strtotime
, I spotted enkrs comment.

You can just do
$monday = strtotime('2009-W42-1');
to find the timestamp for Monday (the
-1
part) of week 42 in 2009. Awesome.

RewriteMap

RewriteMap:
I’ve started using Apache’s RewriteMap directive. And I must say I think I’ll use it a lot more in the future. It’s awesome!

Updated sevengoslings.net

I decided that the “serious blog”-style page wasn’t for me. So now I relaunched sevengoslings.net as a small vanity-page and then move my ramblings here.

My initial though was to move all my old posts from SG to Tumblr, but after I read though my archive, I decided that I really didn’t like my old posts. So I decided not to.

But I did have a few pages that saw some visitors. I couldn’t just disappoint the Google-masses.
So I decided to find the 3-4 pages entry points that was worth keeping, and made replacement pages for these, and add rewrite rules to redirect the old urls to the new alternatives.

The new pages are

Installing PHP with PDO on Leopard. The replacement page here is just a redirect to Sean Coates site, since his way was better.

SG_iCalender. My PHP iCalender parser. I’ve made a static HTML page in my current design that describes the parser.

Javascript Form Validation. I’ve simply started redirected users to jQuery.com.

Let’s see if that ups the posting-rate…
